Q1. What is Dance for the World?

Dance for the World is a participatory fund raising activity for CUSO and VSO’s Volunteer Partnership Fund. It involves a great variety of popular, social and folk dance forms – including hip-hop, swing, salsa and other forms dance. Participants can be highly skilled and talented dancers ( in teams or as individuals), folks who want to get out and have fun for a cause, or some who just want to watch and possibly learn. The money collected by the fundraising efforts and the will help Canadian volunteers and the partners they work with fight poverty, encourage AIDS awareness, and provide social justice for women and children across the world.

Q2. Where can I get more information on the Major Events?
You can find more information on the dates and locations of Dance for the World here.
Q3. What if I don’t live near any of those major cities – can I still get involved?
If you live far from a city where a major event is being help, you can still fundraise and run your own Dance for the World event. Register yourself, your team or your event and email us to tell us what you’re doing!
Q4. Where can I get some ideas for fun things to do with my team?
Check out these videos to see some hot dance moves from last years’ event. Visit the forums to get ideas from other teams.

Q5. I haven’t volunteered overseas with CUSO or VSO. Can I still volunteer?
Everyone is welcome to volunteer and participate in Dance for the World – you don’t have to be a former overseas volunteer to come out!
Q6. I’m a bad dancer. What do I do?
Just go wild and have fun! Dance for the World is an amateur dance event, so odds are there will be lots of other people just like you.
Q7. Can I volunteer? If so, how?
CUSO is very grateful to its volunteers. For more information on how you can take part, please visit the CONTACTS section of this site and choose your nearest Dance for the World team representative.
Q8. Does CUSO canvas door to door?

CUSO does not canvass door-to-door. Nor, does it encourage participants for Dance for the World to solicit funds by door-to-door canvassing. Some individuals, however, elect to canvass neighbours in their communities.

If a canvasser is known to you, and you want to make a donation, please give a cheque instead of cash made out CUSO. If you would rather support online visit www.dancefortheworld.com if you are not comfortable handing personal information out at the door.

Q9. What is the Team Kit and where can I find a copy?

The Team Kit contains all the necessary tools to make your team a success, including information about team types, pledge sheets, and fundraising tips.
