The Afro-Caribbean Dance Group is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting the rich & diverse culture of Canadian people of African and Caribbean heritage through the various art forms. The objectives of the group are to  promote Afro centric culture through the arts forms of drumming, dance and drama, To raise the consciousness of local black youth and to give sense of pride, and encourage youth to share their heritage with the mainstream and other ethnic communities in our society. http://www.acdgroup.com

ASM Dance (As the Spirit Moves) was founded in September 2007 and performs modern-contemporary dance. Attentive to the depth and diversity of human experience, sensitive to social issues it is art which is able to impact the human spirit through its meaning and transforming power.  We desire to use our dance to make and see change in our community. 

PushPULL Dance is a non-profit community-based dance company catering to people with dance training who have pursued careers in other fields, such as law, teaching, and engineering. www.pushpulldance.com

MainStreet Dance specializes in recreational dance classes for "fun and fitness" for ages 2 1/2 to 12 years of age and offers classes for teens and adults too. Dance instruction is offered in Acrobatics, Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Tap. The studio is located in the Unionville / Markham area.  They also offer cultural dance programs for children and adults. Classes are offered in: Flamenco, Belly, Bollywood, Irish, Highland and Salsa. http://www.mainstreetdance.ca 

Waleed “Kush” Abdulhamid plays a blend of pan-African sounds that combine a mélange of musical styles from the continent to the Diaspora. It is rooted in the nomadic sounds and chants of the nomads from North Africa through the Sahara down to the Kalahari in southern Africa. The band employs traditional African instruments like djembe, dar-duf, dumbek, shekere, marimba together with acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboard, drum kit and occasionally violin. The music of “Waleed Kush” has been described as, “delightful, driving, dance-oriented, percussive and groovy”.  

Arabesque Allspice is a group of vivacious dancing women who celebrate the female spirit at its most glorious. Lively and spirited women between the ages of 40 and 60 from all walks of life, a full spectrum of careers, a wide variety of ethnic heritage and many shapes and sizes. Audiences can never resist the infectious joy that these Allspice dancers radiate when performing.

THE MENAKA THAKKAR DANCE COMPANY   For over 30 years, the Menaka Thakkar Dance Company has been a unique treasure in Canada’s dance world. Canada’s oldest Indian dance company exposes audiences to the stunning beauty of traditional Indian dance, while remaining open to other dance cultures in the creation of new works. The company uses the language of many dance styles to re-interpret ancient themes and introduce contemporary concepts.

Mom’s n Paps Restaurant specializes in West Indian and Canadian cuisine and is situated in East York. Their motto is “You’ve had the rest, now you can try the best!”
